A vaccine that could prevent HIV infection is the holy
grail of AIDS research. In the past few years several
international collaborations have brought governments, the
pharmaceutical industry and private organizations together
to raise money for more research, but recent setbacks have
caused many within the scientific community to reconsider
their approach to vaccine development. Still, a vaccine remains
our greatest hope in reducing the spread of HIV, and no ones
ready to give up.
